# What does ‘Unsupported eSIM’ mean?

If you’re seeing the “Unsupported eSIM” alert shown below on iPhone, your device is unlocked and can’t be used with eSIMs. 

To verify if your device is locked:
* Going to “**Settings**” > Tap “**General**” then “**About**”
* Under “**Carrier Lock**” check if you see a messaging saying ‘No SIM restrictions’
